CALL FOR SPECIAL ELECTION

CITY OF MADISON

NOTICE is hereby given to voters residing within the municipal boundaries of Madison, Georgia that a Special Election will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at which time there will be submitted to the qualified voters for their determination the following question:

(  ) YES                  Shall the governing authority of the City of Madison  be authorized to permit                                        and regulate Sunday sales of distilled spirits or alcoholic beverages for beverage      (  ) NO                       purposes by the drink from 11:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M.?

All persons desiring to vote in favor, or for approval, of the question shall vote YES. All persons desiring to vote against, or for the rejection, of the question shall vote NO. If a majority of the persons voting vote in favor of the question, the question shall be approved; otherwise it shall be rejected and of no force or effect. The polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and the election will be held at the county polling locations in conjunction with the General Election.

All persons who are not registered to vote and who desire to register to vote in the Special Election may register to vote through the close of business on October 9, 2018.

Advance voting will begin Monday, October 15, 2018 and end on Friday, November 2, 2018. Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m., and Saturday, October 27, 2018, 9:00a.m. to 4:00p.m.

Voters who wish to vote by Mail may apply by submitting an application to the Morgan County Elections Office at 434 Hancock Street, Madison, GA 30650. Voted ballots must be received at our office by 7:00pm, Tuesday, November 6, 2018.

Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Election Day. The municipal polling location has been TEMPORARILY moved to your county polling location. The change in polling location is for this Special Election only.

NOTICE - CITY OF MADISON VOTERS 

The official polling location of the City of Madison Special Election to be held on November 6, 2018 shall be TEMPORARILY moved from the Madison Public Safety Building, 160 North Main Street, Madison, GA 30650 to the County polling locations for City voters, which are:

MORGAN COUNTY DFCS 2005 SOUTH MAIN STREET, SUITE 100, MADISON, GA 30650

AND

MORGAN COUNTY RECREATION DEPARTMENT, 1253 COLLEGE DRIVE, MADISON, GA 30650

The change in polling location for the City of Madison is for this Special Election only.

Early voting for the November 6, 2018 Special Election will be October 15 – November 2, 2018, at the Morgan County Board of Elections and Registration Office, 434 Hancock Street, Madison, GA.

Residents of the City of Madison who are qualified to register to vote, and are not currently registered, or who need to update their voter registration information, may do so through the close of business Tuesday, October 9, 2018. Persons may register to vote online at www.mvp.sos.ga.gov or at any of the designated places for registering Morgan County residents. If you have moved into, out of, or within the city limits of Madison and have not notified the Morgan County Board of Elections and Registration, please do so no later than October 9, 2018.

Early In-Person Voting will begin Monday, October 15, 2018 and end on Friday, November 2, 2018. The hours and locations for Early Voting will be available on morgancountyga.gov’s Election and Registration page and on mvp.sos.ga.gov.
