Out of an abundance of caution to keep our citizens, volunteers and employees healthy and safe the class this week is being postponed.  New dates for the class will be posted as soon as possible.  Thank you for your understanding. 

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office offers a Citizen Handgun Safety class to Morgan County residents and Morgan County business owners throughout the year. The purpose of this class is to educate and instruct civilians on the proper use, safety, and laws regarding firearms.  The class will meet on Thursday evening at the Sheriff’s Office from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for the classroom portion of the course. Participants will pick a range session on Saturday for the practical exercises. Range sessions will be at 8:00 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.  You MUST attend the classroom session to participate in the range session. 


-We only provide .38, 9mm, and .40 caliber ammo
-No long guns will be permitted
-You must be 18 years of age or older
-You must pass a background check
-You must not have any Felony convictions
-You must not have any Misdemeanor convictions for Domestic Violence

-Proper shooting techniques
-How your weapon functions
-Georgia firearm carry laws
-You will get an opportunity to practice with your weapon

To register, complete the following forms.   Return registration forms to firearmsafety@morgancountyga.gov  A copy of your Drivers License must also be attached.  You can also hand deliver registrations forms to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office.  Each person wanting to attend must complete the forms.
