The county currently operates a transfer station and monitors two closed landfills. The current transfer station is located at:

County residents can drop-off their household waste at the transfer station as well as at the following locations. At all of these locations, except the Fairplay location, residents can also drop off recyclables such as paper, cardboard, plastic 1 and 2 only:
Please be mindful of disposing of your trash and/or recyclables in the proper containers. Also, we ask that cardboard boxes be flattened before depositing into the container.
Hazardous Waste Disposal
Morgan County residents can drop-off cooking oil, used motor oil, paint, household pesticides, used electronics, and household batteries at the Transfer Station Recycling Center on weekdays between 11:00 am 3:30 pm, and Saturdays between 8:00 and 12:00 pm.
Be advised that Lowes Home Improvement stores will take your compact florescent bulbs. The only places in Morgan County to dispose of the long florescent tubes from your household fixtures are the solid waste landfill disposal or with fee service mail disposal.
