Sign-Up for Emergency Alerts

Morgan County has also been implementing Nixle which keeps the citizens up to date with school and public safety information when needed. It is designed to keep the community informed and engaged by allowing for the easy flow of information from community leaders to its citizens.

It too delivers notifications to the individual on whichever means is most convenient to them. The Morgan County Emergency Services Facebook page receives the updates automatically from Nixle in the event of the public needing information from any public safety or school sector.

Nixle allows for web publishing, test messages or emails to provide the public information in “real-time,” or practically instantly. It also has an anonymous reporting tool that can be vital to the safety and accountability of those in and around Morgan County. Nixle provides alerts such as missing persons, suspect apprehended, weather alerts and any other emergency safety alert.

To sign-up for Nixle alerts text 30650 to 888777 or visit and follow the directions for signing up.

Morgan County Emergency Services has recently upgraded and improved two new services, CodeRED and Nixle, to allow emergency alerts to be relayed to the citizens of Morgan County immediately in the event of a local emergency.

CodeRED is a “community notification system” used to send out alerts such as evacuation alerts, wildfires, severe weather and even missing person alerts. It is an easy to use system that is vital when undergoing critical emergencies.

The system can support thousands of users and sends those users alerts via the telephone or internet. Alerts can be sent to residents via a phone message, a text message or e-mail. The alerts sent out are specific for Morgan County. The alerts are vital in the response and the safety of citizens well being and occasionally their lives.

Citizens can sign up through the CodeRED app on their smartphone or go to and click on the Communications – E911 tab. The sign up for alerts can be found at the bottom of the webpage.
