POSITION TITLE: Deputy Sheriff
DIVISION:               Uniform Patrol

ENTRY LEVEL SALARY: $ 31,976.00 – annually, plus benefits.
 
REQUIREMENTS: Performs various law enforcement tasks for the uniform patrol division; evaluates and deciphers emergency and non–emergency calls. Enforces motor vehicle laws; directs traffic; handles traffic accidents. Investigates crimes, interviews witnesses, reviews and prepares reports. Transports prisoners; escorts funeral processions. Serves court issued subpoenas, executes arrest/search warrants and executes various other court orders. Investigates missing person reports, animal complaints and maintains crowd control. Potentially life-threatening situations contribute to the complexity of the position. This position contributes to the safety and well-being of citizens and their property. Duties are performed under general supervision. Position requires rotating shift work in all weather conditions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Citizen of the United States; 21 year of age; high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Georgia driver’s license; no criminal convictions.

Must be able to complete and pass each of the following: Physical Agility Test, Written Assessment Examination, Background Investigation, Oral Interview, Polygraph, Psychological Examination, Medical Examination, Alcohol and Drug Screening.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Georgia P.O.S.T. certification as a Law Enforcement Officer; vocational or technical school training in criminal justice, law enforcement or closely related area.

Miscellaneous Information:  Position can be stressful and hazardous depending upon assignment. Work requires the use of protective devices such as bullet-resistant vests and other specialized law enforcement equipment.

POSITION TITLE: Detention Deputy
DIVISION:               Detention Center

ENTRY LEVEL SALARY: $ 29,210.50 – annually, plus benefits.

REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to deal with stressful situations. Be able to effectively communicate. Be willing and able to  render first aid when needed. Must be able to pass Detention Officer within 6 months of date of hire.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Citizen of the United States; 18 year of age; high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Georgia driver’s license; no criminal convictions.
