ATTENTION CAR BUYERS!

New legislation effective January 1, 2011 will require a person purchasing a vehicle from an individual to register the vehicle within seven (7) business days. Cardboard "tags" in lieu or proper license tags will no longer be permitted. The following documents must be submitted to the local tag office:

• Certificate of Title
• Bill of Sale
• previous owner's registration, and
• proof of insurance.

The Morgan county Tax Commissioner's Office offers a variety of services to the public, such as:

• Selling and Renewing your automobile tag
• Collecting Property Taxes
• Collecting Mobile Home Taxes
• Collecting Timber Taxes
• Processing Title Transfers

The official deadline for property taxes is December 20th. After this date penalties and interest accrue.
