Friday, April 2, 2010 marked the inauguration of the new Morgan County Public Safety Complex, with a Dedication Ceremony at 11:00 A.M., and a tour of the premises afterwards. The event culminated with a "spend the night in jail" by those brave enough to participate. Approximately 60 people actually did!
Interesting facts about the new complex:
- 5 housing units and a total of 192 beds
- 95,000 SF of built space, with an additional 90,000 SF for future development, on a 75-acre site
- Concrete masonry with steel cells
- Approximately 190 miles of wiring and 1,100 yds of concrete
- Around 335 doors and locks
- Approximately 320 keys
- Approximately 121 video cameras
- Eighteen video monitors
- Four control stations
