The Morgan County resource Preservation Advisory Board meets on the second Tuesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. in the Planning and Development Conference Room,

All meetings are open to the public, and we encourage anyone with an interest in the history of Morgan County and the preservatuin of its character to attend these meetings.

The Comprehensive Plan States It Best

The cultural reality of present day Morgan County is that of a place where the historic development patterns characteristic of the South have been remarkably well preserved in a variety of architecturally distinctive structures, traditionally designed small towns, viable agricultural establishments, and unspoiled rural landscapes.

Countless individuals, both Morgan County citizens as well as visitors to this community, have reiterated this idea. The Comprehensive Plan repeatedly articulates the mandate to preserve the rural heritage of Morgan County as we bear the development pressures from the communites around us. As a proactive first step, the Morgan County Board of Commissioners has authorized the creation of a Resource Preservation Advisory Board to identify and document those characteristics that comprise our rural heritage in unincorporated Morgan County. This is a five-member board that will work closely with Planning and Development staff to implement the policies of the Comprehensive Plan to protect environmentally significant resources.
