2018 Citizens Firearm Class
The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce the first Citizen Firearms Class of 2018. We are currently accepting enrollment for seats in upcoming classes. These classes will focus on general firearms safety, the Georgia law governing the use of force and proper shooting techniques. The classes will be a combination of lecture and hands-on shooting instruction at the MCSO firearm complex. (Note that under current law, this class is not a requirement to apply for a Georgia Weapons Carry License, although it is highly recommended.)
Attendees must be Residents of Morgan County, 18 years of age or older, with no felony convictions.
The Sheriff's Office will provide ammunition for common caliber handguns (.40, 9mm and .38), basic safety equipment and targets. We have limited number of .38 revolvers for those who do not currently own a handgun. This training will cover handguns only.
The course will be broken into a classroom session on Thursday evening and a range session on Saturday. Classroom session will be on Thursday from 6 pm to 9 pm. The times for the ranges sessions on Saturday are 8:00 a.m., 9:30 a.m., and 11:00 a.m. There are only 10 slots available for each session. Each class will be limited to 30 students.
